Nightmare (Poem)

A chill as I wake up in a cold sweat
My heart is pounding, my breath catching
The vivid images of a nightmare still in my head
Fear still lingering, my whole body aching
I don’t want to move, I’m so scared
I had been dreaming of some dark and terrible fate
The feeling of terror was real, no matter the state
The darkness and dread still haunting me
I’m desperate for the nightmare to end, and the nightmare to flee.
